Biography

Amanda Palmer (b. 1975, Essex) is a UK-based artist specialising in drawing. She works primarily in pencil, coloured pencil, pastel, PanPastel and charcoal, often combining these media to create layered, observational works.
Palmer studied Fine Art at De Montfort University, graduating with a First Class BA (Hons) in 2001. Her focus returned strongly to drawing while teaching life drawing during a PGCE placement at London College of Fashion in 2006. She later completed 'The Drawing Year' at the Royal Drawing School (2007–2008), where drawing became the central focus of her practice.
She currently creates work for exhibition and private collections from her studio in Norfolk and has exhibited regularly in open exhibitions across the UK, including the Mall Galleries, London.
Recent accolades include Winning Entry, DRAW 25, Wisbech Art Gallery (2025), Shortlisted, Visual Artists Open Prize (2025), and Judge’s Special Mention, Wisbech Art Gallery Open (2024). Earlier awards include the Patsy Whiting Award (SWA, 2019) and The Pastel Society Award for Non-members, 2nd Prize (2015).
